Nuclear Energy Development Survey

Alberta is exploring the potential role of nuclear energy in meeting the province’s future electricity and industrial energy needs. This survey is the first of two online surveys and part of a province-wide public engagement. Its purpose is to understand what questions Albertans have about nuclear energy, which topics matter most to them, and how they prefer to learn about nuclear energy. The second survey, scheduled for later this year, will provide more opportunities for Albertans to share their feedback and provide input on the role Alberta’s government should have in potential nuclear development.

Your input will help guide ongoing and future public engagement and outreach activities.

Today, Alberta’s electricity system relies primarily on natural gas and renewable sources such as wind and solar. Nuclear power provides opportunity to provide reliable, low-emissions power and is one of several options being examined to help meet long-term electricity goals for grid reliability, lower-emissions power, and affordability.

The survey takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete and closes September 25, 2025.
