    The Minister of Municipal Affairs initiated a viability review for the Village of Bittern Lake in October 2023. 

    The province is developing a Viability Review Report that will examine the village’s governance, administration, services, and finances, and outline options for how the community of Bittern Lake can best move forward. 

    The report will include information collected from the village, Camrose County, provincial records, and the community. When completed, the report will be distributed to village residents, property owners, and the public. After the report is published, residents will vote on whether the community should remain an independent municipality or if it should dissolve and join Camrose County as a hamlet.

    The Minister of Municipal Affairs initiated a viability review for the Summer Village of Ma-Me-O Beach in December 2023. 

    The Ministry of Municipal Affairs is developing a Viability Review Report that will examine the summer village’s governance, administration, infrastructure, services, and finances, and outline options for how the community of Ma-Me-O Beach can best move forward.

    The report will include information collected from the Summer Village of Ma-Me-O Beach, the County of Wetaskiwin, provincial records, and the community. When completed, the report will be distributed to summer village residents and property owners. The report will also be available on the Government of Alberta website.

    Following distribution, the ministry will host a public information session to review the report before summer village electors vote on whether Ma-Me-O Beach should remain a summer village or if it should dissolve and become a hamlet in the County of Wetaskiwin.
