Extended Producer Responsibility

This engagement has concluded. Return to the Government of Alberta public engagement website

Background

In spring 2021, we gathered input focused on the design of an Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) approach to single-use plastics, packaging and paper products, and hazardous and special products (which include household hazardous waste).

Stakeholders are now invited to review the “What we heard” summary and provide feedback to help us refine our approach.

Purpose

Alberta Environment and Parks is engaging on to enable the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) legislation that was introduced in Bill 83, the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Amendment Act that was introduced on November 15, 2021.

How to Provide Feedback on Alberta’s EPR Legislation and Programs

Your feedback will ensure Alberta’s proposed EPR legislative framework meets stakeholder needs, keeps pace with changes over time, and leads to positive environmental, social, and economic outcomes.

The survey is organized by sector. Please select the survey that applies to your sector and answer the questions which apply to you and your organization.

Thank you for participating in Alberta Environment and Parks’ engagement on Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) What We Heard Document. Your time and feedback are valued.

Due to the high interest in Alberta’s engagement on EPR and the need to add additional engagement sessions, we’ve decided to extend the deadline for stakeholder feedback submissions until Friday, January 21st, 2022.

Further questions, inquiries or requests to meet with Alberta Environment and Parks can be directed to AEP.RecyclingRegulation@gov.ab.ca
