  • On behalf of the Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Akmal Coetzee-Khan, Alberta Justice thanks you for taking part in this survey. The Alberta Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) is seeking your input as Alberta Justice reviews the Fatality Inquiries Act.

The Fatality Inquiries Act (FIA) empowers the OCME to medically investigate sudden, unexpected, and unexplained deaths. Alberta Justice, through the OCME, wishes to do a comprehensive review of the FIA to better support the current environment of sudden death investigations, improvements to the public fatality inquiry process, the needs of the OCME, and the needs and expectations of stakeholders (organizations and associations targeted by this survey), next-of-kin, and Albertans.

The survey takes approximately 60 minutes to complete and closes December 6, 2024.
